Dental Implants in Ginza, Tokyo
Dental Implants
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth root with a small titanium post, which then supports a crown that looks and works like a natural tooth. Dr. Hitomi Uchida explains every step in English, so you know exactly what to expect before you decide.

Is an implant right for you?
Implants can be an option if you have lost one or more teeth, have a loose bridge, or find dentures uncomfortable. Before treatment, we check your bone with a 3D CT scan (CBCT) and review your general health. If there is not enough bone, a bone graft or sinus lift may be needed first.
How treatment works
-
Consultation and CT scan: We examine your mouth, take a 3D scan and discuss your options in English.
-
Treatment planning: We plan the implant position digitally and, when needed, make a surgical guide.
-
Implant placement: The implant is placed under local anesthesia. A mild anti-anxiety medication helps you relax, and nitrous oxide or IV sedation is also available.
-
Healing: The implant bonds with the bone, usually over 3 to 6 months.
-
Second stage: A healing abutment is attached to shape the gum.
-
Abutment, provisional crown and final crown: We attach the abutment and fit a provisional crown so we can check your bite, comfort and appearance. Then your custom final crown is made and fitted.
-
Maintenance: Regular checkups and cleanings help your implant last.

Treatment period
The implant usually needs 3 to 6 months to heal after placement. After that, you wear a provisional crown for a period before the final crown is fitted. Treatment takes longer when a bone graft is needed. The total number of visits depends on your case.

FAQ
Does it hurt?
Surgery is done under local anesthesia, and we give you a mild anti-anxiety medication (Horizon, diazepam) so you can relax during the procedure. Nitrous oxide (¥6,000 per 30 minutes) and IV sedation (from ¥60,000 per hour) are also available. Most patients feel pressure rather than pain.
I may move away from Japan. Can I still get an implant?
Yes. Tell us your timeline at the consultation, and we will plan the steps around your stay and give you records to take to your next dentist.
Which implant brands do you use?
It depends on your case. We use implants from Nobel Biocare, Straumann or BioHorizons, and Dr. Uchida will explain which one suits you at your consultation.
